Congressional Term-Limits Proposal
by James W. Burns
Congressman Fleming,
The 22nd Amendment was put in place for Presidential Term-Limits; which only allows someone to serve Two Terms (8 years) as President of the United States. Congressional Ron Paul has proposed Congressional Term-Limits four times already, but I sincerely believe that we are going into a pivotal moment in American History which will allow for Congressional Term-Limits to become Law.
The anger of the American people over the past decade of Greed, Corruption, Out of Control Spending, Expansion of Government, Loss of our Freedoms, Liberties, Rights, and Shredding of The Constitution has lead us to this precipice. Either we pull ourselves back from the ledge here and now, and Restore Our Republic or else we’re going to plunge into this Tyrannical Imperial Police State that has been slowly put in place around us for the past several years.
While We The People have to accept our share of the blame for looking the other way for too long now; a lot of the blame has to be cast upon the “Career Politicians” in Washington, who have completely lost touch with the people who voted them into office. While most Elected Officials go into office with the best of hopes and intentions to serve the people; over time they almost always become that which they first campaigned against.
It’s time to bring an end to “Career Politicians”, and the new Congress in 2011 will have the power to push for Congressional Term-Limits. I sincerely hope to you will seriously consider working with Congressman Ron Paul and others in 2011, and push for Congressional Term-Limits. I am not a Lawyer, and only a novice when it comes to my knowledge of the finer details of Parliamentary Procedure, however, I strongly believe that this can and will become a reality in our time; with your help.
Here is how I believe Congressional Term-Limits should be set:
Representatives: 4 Terms (8 Years)
Senators: 2 Terms (12 Years)
Which means the longest anyone could serve in Congress would be for a Total of 20 Years (which is still better than 30,40, 50+ Years). I hope that you too can see the merits and need for Congressional Term-Limits, and will strive in 2011 to help bring an end to “Career Politicians”. Thank you Congressman Fleming for your time.
Sincerely,
James W. Burns
